Making Lasting Memorys

A couple of weeks ago I was able to share another vacation with my Sister Margie and my Brother Roy. Making this an even more special trip was having my oldest granddaughter, Emily, to go with us. This would be her first time to ever see the Ocean. My sister flew in on Tuesday and we sat out early for a long drive to Florida the next morning. What a feeling to see that smile and those wide eyes when Emily first saw the Ocean . Worth every mile, every minute of her asking how much further and are we there yet? This was the Gulf of Mississippi since our first stop was in Biloxi, Mississippi to see our cousin, Tommy.
Margie and I hadn't seen him in many, many years. Had a great time catching up. Tommy took us out to the pier so Emily could see the Ocean and then out to eat. Tommy is in the same 1000 mile Challenge group I am in for the year and I was happy to get to do 6 miles with him the next morning at 3:15 a.m.
We then traveled on to Roy and Renea's home in Milton, Florida. There is this long Tunnel you have to go through in Mobil, Alabama that I hate to drive through. Emily had gone through a tunnel in a mountain while in Arkansas and this would be her first through water. Coming out to the other side and seeing the big Naval ships and the seeing the difference between the color of the water.
We were now seeing the Atlantic Ocean with snow white sandy beaches. Emily was so excited and couldn't wait to meet her cousins. And she finally did! Had a ball with Ryan and Lexie. They drew and colored, swam every day, and played games.
Her Uncle Roy and Aunt Renea took her and the rest of us to two different beaches with beautiful white sand. We watched the Blue Angels fly over the Pensacola Beach. Roy found seashells for Emily and made her feel like a special little girl. She's still talking about that trip today. I'm sure she will remember that trip and all the first she experienced plus all the lasting memory's.

We all had a good trip. My Sister and Brother are very close to me and were all getting on in years. We may not have many more but I'm thankful for every visit. Margie came back home with me and we spent some time just hanging out, catching up, and laughing together until she had to fly home. Hoping to get to join her in Arizona in October to walk for Breast Cancer...That will be new memories to share

  1. For some reason, you came to mind just the other day, so I was glad when I spotted the note that you had just posted here on your blog. I'm so glad you had such a wonderful trip to visit family, and that Emily got to go with you! Thanks for sharing the highlights of your visit!

    1. Hi Jacqi! It is always nice to see you on the blogs. I just told my husband the other night how I needed to get back to writing and posting , but most of all back t my Genealogy digging. Seems like the last couple of years have been so busy but also have flown by. Thank you, my friend, for always reading my posts and keeping up with me. Makes it all worth the effort!
