The Beauty of God's work

Yesterday rained all day and when my Granddaughter came over to spend the day with me, we stayed indoors away from the storm that seem to get worse as the day went by. Some where after lunch the electricity went out and the house became dark and outside the thunder rolled and lightening hit several times around our home. When my granddaughter became scared we snuggled up on the couch and I told her to listen...
I told her when I was her age I could remember my mother telling me that we should not be scared of the storm. That the thunder and lightening was God working. I told her about how he is busy watering the earth and taking care of it and that we should not be afraid.  I never forgot her telling me that and to this day those words help calm me in the storms.

The time clicked on somewhere over an hour and the storm continued. My Granddaughter and I shared different story's about the weather and one was how God put a rainbow in the sky as a sign that he would keep his promise and not flood the earth and mankind again.
When the lights came back on we went back to playing and before we knew it, the time had come that her mother was walking in the door to take her home.

The two of them hadn't been gone long, maybe a whole five minutes, when I happen to look out the back window to see if it were still raining...
I ran through the house like an excited child, grabbed my camera, and as I was slipping on my shoes I told my husband to come see...

Not a half ! Not a single ! A full, Double, Beautiful Rainbow !

BEAUTIFUL ! God is still in control. God keeps all promises. God heard me tell my granddaughter about his work. And I bet Mom heard me too!

"Like the appearance of a RAINBOW in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord . . . " (Ezekiel 1:26-28)

  1. What a lovely--and wise--story to pass along from your mother to your granddaughter. No wonder it was so exciting to see that followed up by such a lovely rainbow...and a little bit of "Alpen Glow" in the tops of the trees in the photo, too.

    1. It was! It was still raining lightly when I took the photos but I couldn't take my eyes off it. What you don't see in this photo is how the double mocked the image and was amazing to see. I must have stood there in the rain and cold for thirty minutes and behind me was the most beautiful sunset to top it off.

  2. Wow! How beautiful. You always have a way with writing down your thoughts. I am a very bad writer, because I am not good with words. Please never stop. All your stories (Blogs) are so very inspirational.
