Amazing Grace

My sister recently added Amazing Grace to her blog "Just Another Day" ,on her tribute to mom. This song brings so many thoughts and feelings to mind and so hard for both of us to listen to...
When our mother was only days away from dying and as I sat by her side, she asked me to sing  "Amazing Grace" to her. I cant carry a tune in a bucket, but my mother asked this of me, so I sang three verses. I chocked back the tears and when I finished she told me that was beautiful....It was sang at her funeral at grave side and those words meant more to me than ever. I cry every time I hear it! My favorite group to sing Amazing Grace is, Celtic Women.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.
T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.
Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.
The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.
When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.
Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

  1. My mom requested Amazing Grace to be sung at her service too.

  2. That is funny because Mom asked me to sing it to her as well, but I only knew the 1st verse & I too had to hold back the tears. She was such a wonderful Mom. I cry everytime I hear the song too. The Celtic girls have beautiful voices. I heard them many times & cried like a baby the 1st time I heard them sing it. love ya sis,
